Statement of Faith

Faith Christian Camp Board of Directors, as well as the churches and individuals who support FCC, hold very tightly to the doctrines of the Restoration Movement Christian Church and Churches of Christ.

Scripture

The Bible is the only inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. The Bible is the final authority for all matters of faith and practice. The Scriptures alone are the source of Christian teaching. Where the Bible speaks, we speak; where the Bible is silent, we are silent. (Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18, 24:35; Mark 12:36; John 14:26, 16:12-15; Acts 1:16; Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

The Trinity

There is only one God, eternally present in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:2; Matthew 5:16, 6:1, 28:19-20; John 1:1, 4:24, 14:9, 14:16-20; Ephesians 4:4-6; James 1:17; 2 Peter 1:21)

God

God is the Father Almighty, creator of all things visible and invisible. (Genesis 1:1; Acts 17:24-28; Hebrews 11:3)

Jesus

Jesus Christ is God’s one and only Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of virgin birth. He came to earth both fully human and fully divine. He lived a sinless life and performed miracles while on earth. He suffered and was crucified by the order of Pontius Pilate. He died an atoning death through his shed blood. Jesus died, was buried, and rose again from the dead in bodily form on the third day. He ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father. There will be a personal and imminent second coming of Christ when he will return to earth and judge both the living and the dead. (Matthew 1:18-23, 3:17, 21:11, 24:36-42, 28:1-6; Luke 1:26-38, 22:69, 23:1-46, 24:1-8; John 1:14, 3:16, 14:1-3, 19:19, 20:24-29; Acts 1:1-11, 4:10, 10:39-42; Romans 5:15-17; 1 Corinthians 15: 3-8; Colossians 2:9, 3:1; 1 Peter 4:5; 2 Peter 3:18; I John 1:1, 2:21-25, 4:9)

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is an active and operative part of the Trinity and indwells in every Christian. (John 16:5-15, Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-27; I Corinthians 3:16, 6:19; 2 Timothy 1:14)

Sin

Man consciously and willfully sinned against God and is consequently lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ. No human is without sin, and sin ultimately leads to death by separation from Christ. (Genesis 2:15-20, Acts 4:12, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12-19, I John 1:8-10)

Salvation

Salvation, the forgiveness of sins, is received only by grace though the blood of Jesus Christ. One receives God’s gift of salvation by hearing the Gospel, believing that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior, repenting of all sins, confessing Christ as God’s Son, being baptized into Christ by immersion, and living a new life for Christ. None of these acts in and of itself is sufficient for the assurance of salvation. (Matthew 10:32, 26:28, 28:19-20; Mark 16:16; Luke 24:45-47; John 3:15-16; Acts 2:38, 3:19, 17:30; Romans 1:17, 5:1-2, 5:9, 6:1-8, 10:9-10; Galatians 3:27; Ephesians 2:8-9; Philippians 2:11; Colossians 2:12; I Peter 1:18-19, 3:21; 2 Peter 3:9, 3:18; I John 1:7, 4:15; Revelation 2:10)

The Church

The Church of Jesus Christ was founded on the Day of Pentecost and consists of all Christians everywhere. Communion, partaking of the Lord’s supper, is a central act of worship for Christians as demonstrated by the first New Testament church. Elders are to exercise authority over local congregations. We consider ourselves not as the only Christians but as Christians only. (Matthew 16:13-18; Acts 2:14-47, 20:28; Philippians 1:1; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4)

Gender

God created human beings in his image as either male or female. Gender is determined and fixed by God. (Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 139:13-18; Matthew 19:4; Mark 10:6)

Marriage

Marriage is a God-ordained union between one male (man) and one female (woman), husband and wife. The two should live together in unity of mind and purpose. Marriage is intended to be a lifelong, sexually exclusive relationship. (Genesis 2:22-24; Ecclesiastes 9:9; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-9; I Corinthians 7:2-16; Ephesians 5:23-33; Hebrews 13:4)
